Requirements:1. The applicant must be either a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, or the daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, sister, wife, son, grandson, great-grandson, brother, widow, husband, or step-relative of a WWI, WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Granada/Lebanon, Panama, Persian Gulf, or present conflict Veteran. 2. The applicant must be a resident of the Second District, attend high school in the Second District, or be eligible through a person paying dues in the Second District Legion or Auxiliary and reside in a District adjacent to the Second District. The Second District includes the following counties: Dubuque, Jackson, Clinton, Scott, Linn and Jones. 3. The applicant must be, or must plan to be enrolled in a school in the State of Iowa.Application, photograph, transcript, one letter of recommendation and a personal letter should be mailed and received by American Legion by March 15th.

Carnes, Ivan H.; Memorial Scholarship

Summary: Ivan H. Carnes loved the Clinton community and was a business and community leader and President of Clinton National Bank and Carnes Oil Company. Upon his death his wife wanted the community to remember him, so she created a memorial scholarship in his name.
Requirements: The Carnes Memorial Scholarship fund will award an amount of $1,000 to one CHS senior who ranks in the top half of their class. Financial need, leadership qualities, and concern for others shall be among the factors considered. Applicant must write a letter expressing reasons why he/she should be selected and list a name and address of someone who knows them well and is willing to write a letter of recommendation. (The letter does not need to be written at this time.) A transcript must also be included. Return all materials to the Counseling Office.

All Iowa Opportunity Scholarship
Due Date: March 1, 2016
Summary: The All Iowa Opportunity Scholarship is a state-funded scholarship program for students who do well in high school and demonstrate financial need. The 2016-17 maximum award is $8,118. First priority will be given to students whose applications are received on or before March 1, 2016. Applications received after the March 1 priority date will be considered for an award only if funding remains once all renewals and priority applicants have been awarded.
Requirements: . High school seniors who graduated in 2015 or will graduate with the class of 2016 are eligible for the All Iowa Opportunity Scholarship if they meet the following criteria: Iowa resident; Attend eligible Iowa college or University, Graduated high school within the last 2 years; Be a first-time college freshman in the fall of 2016 or spring 2017 semesters (unless you are renewing your scholarship award); Continuously enrolled and continuously receiving a scholarship disbursement to renew a scholarship; Minimum of 2.5 cum GPA on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent; Enroll for at least 3 semester hours in a program leading to an undergraduate degree; Complete the FAFSA and Iowa Financial Aid Application by March 1 for priority consideration; Have an EFC of $8,118 or lower from the 2016-17 FAFSA and complete any additional applications or documents required by the Iowa College Student Aid Commission.
